Central Florida ground is mostly sand over clay, with a water table that sits high in the wet season. That makes some excavation work faster here than it would be elsewhere and some of it considerably trickier. Trench walls in loose sand need care. Low-lying parcels in Volusia and east Orange hold water long after a storm passes.

Utility Trenching in Central Florida
Trenching is our most-requested service. Water lines, electrical conduit, irrigation and drainage runs - cut to specified depth, backfilled and compacted to prevent settling. Read more about our trenching work.
Trenching for Underground Utilities
We dig and backfill the trench; your utility contractor, electrician or plumber makes the connections. New construction, additions, well and pump lines, and power runs to outbuildings. Utility locates are called in before any digging begins.
If you already have a contractor lined up, we coordinate the open window with them so the trench is not sitting open longer than it needs to be.
Site Preparation & Grading
Raw ground prepared for construction. Clearing, root grubbing, rough and finish grading, and pad preparation to your builder's specifications. Site preparation is where most build delays start, so it is worth getting right the first time.
Lot & Property Cleanup
Storm debris, old fence lines, brush piles and accumulated material. Hauled off-site or mulched in place, depending on volume and access.
Underbrush & Vegetation Removal
Palmetto, scrub, vines and undergrowth cleared to your specification - down to bare soil or thinned for access. See our land clearing options for larger parcels.
Drainage Contouring
Standing water, water intrusion at the foundation, and low areas that hold moisture. Drain lines, catch basins and regrading to redirect surface and subsurface water. More on drainage and grading.

What does an excavation contractor do?
An excavation contractor moves earth - digging, trenching, grading and site preparation. In practice that covers everything from a single water line trench to preparing an entire building pad, plus the drainage work that keeps the finished site from holding water.
Do you call in utility locates before digging?
Always. Sunshine 811 is called before every job that breaks ground, and we wait out the required marking window. It is free, it is state law in Florida, and hitting an unmarked line is the most expensive mistake on any excavation job.
How far in advance should I schedule excavation work?
A week is comfortable for planned work. Emergency and same-day service is available for line breaks, storm damage and inspection deadlines - call rather than emailing if the job is urgent.
What size equipment do you use?
Machines are matched to the job and to access. A compact track loader fits through a residential gate; a full-size excavator does not. During the walkthrough we confirm what will physically reach the work area before quoting it.
